This move took a lot out of me. Even though there were all of these great places to explore, it was not happening with any regularity. It seemed like more effort than it should of to get back in the swing of things, but all that changed in just a run. Portland's trail running czar, Yassine, took me for a tour of some of the Gorge 100K course last Friday. We climbed, moved over technical terrain, admired waterfalls and trees, all while chatting about running and life in general. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but a switch flipped. Maybe it was that "return to normalcy" of having some company on a long run, or perhaps it is just that my family is finally settled in to our new home and I am able to relax and get back to business.
Whatever it is, I like it. I feel great and have that desire to really get out and run. I even did hill repeats on a whim today.
