I'm not an elite so I do not have sponsors, but I get the opportunity to try out a lot of different gear. Below are some of my favorite items for training and racing.
Petzl Myo - My favorite headlamp hands down
*Altra - I mix time in zero drop shoes to work different muscles and foot-strike. Altra's are 0 drop so it takes some time to get used to and I still haven't found a trail shoe from them that 100% works for me. However I do a lot of my road running in them. Right now I am enjoying the Torin and the Paradigm 3.5 (coming soon)
DryMax Light Trail socks - ankle usually but if the trail is messy, I'll use the taller ones
Rudy Project Ekynox SX - White with blue racing lenses. I have a small face and these fit great. *I'm a Rudy Project MVP so I get a discount on these but not for free.
Amphipod Hydraform Thermal-Lite - I carry handhelds about 50% of the time. After several year using Ultimate Direction handhelds, I switched to these. The strap holds secure and the insulated sleeve makes for a soft grip, especially with sweaty hands.
Salomon S-Lab Adv Skin 5 Set - I've tried a ton of packs and I keep coming back to this one. It has enough storage for a full day in the mountains and the fit on me is
Patagonia Houdini - 30's with (or without) light rain and you are good to go with this 4 ouncer. I also have the Alpine version (6.6 ounces) for heavier rainfall or when I plan to be somewhere a little more remote.
*Katadyn BeFree Water Filtration System 0.6L - Before moving to the PNW filtering water wasn't really an option. Lots of farming and chemicals around paired with a lack of water sources just meant you carried what was needed or stashed along the way. Now I have mostly clean water sources everywhere but for safety I still like to filter. This setup is light, easy, flows fast and works great.
