Damn is it hot out!! More than likely I'm not saying anything here that is earth shattering. We've had record temps every day for over a week. It's not the end of the world, it just makes everything more difficult. Fueling, logistics, maintaining speed, it is all harder to deal with in the heat. But, we soldier on and do what we do! Monday - shake out run with core, 6.5 miles
Tuesday - easy run with strides. 10.3 miles
Wednesday - Tabata bike and core
Thursday - rest
Friday - easy run and core - 6.58
Saturday - had 5 hours planned but only landed 3:40. Busy day plus heat was over 100 when I stopped. - 20 miles
Sunday - Very good run on the Berryman Trail while we mapped out aid stations for Mark Twain 100 Good pace, fueling, and hydration made this an awesome day to hang on the trail with the boys - 25.5 miles
Total 69 miles and 12:53 of total training
The heat takes a lot out of me so I spent a fair amount of this weekend, post run, just laying around. It seems to have worked as I feel excellent right now and ready to push though this last big week before Tahoe Rim 100! It's on!
And for your viewing enjoyment and my inspiration for my post title, The Eagles of Death Metal - Solid Gold. Enjoy!!
